Taiwan Escapade Saga 3

Correction to my earlier post on Taiwan Prologue - i spent a whopping 2k instead of 1.8k on just shopping and eating along for this whole trip, forgetting abt the $150 i had wif mi fr last visit T__T

I brought literally an empty luggage to Taiwan.. Save for my curling tong, fringe straightener, makeup and one T-shirt (i.e. e red one u saw in previous post..)... plus one set of clothes which i wore on the first day itself.. other than that, toiletries brought to share and throw aft use.. thats almost all my luggage carried..

to the extent that i had to enlist shi's help to keep my makeup among her clothes for fear of spoilage due to how e airport staff throw e luggage..

in a sense, it had been great shopping in taiwan that i did not care that much like i have to in SG where everything seems so much more expensive.. so great that i did not care for my pockets until much later when i came back to reality...

after coming back, the disparity became even more evident when i hav been comparing the exchange rate conversion in my head for the past two weeks..

conclusion: SG reali cuts our throat without mercy in many many places..

ok, a stop to my incessant droning about how good taiwan has been..

here's e continuation to my photo log for saga 3...

Day 3: Off to Taipei 101

#1
finally wore my can can hat in TW... after i bought it on my 1st day there..
ate at 八方云集 yet again.. cos we found the outlet close 2 our hotel..

#2
it mite not surface again in photos becos someone doesnt reali wan to go out wif mi if i wore tis in SG T_T
until perhaps my next trip overseas n hopefully can can hat is still in fashion T_______T

#3
better show more photos wif mi in can can hat..

dunno why, for the past two days when i did not wear the can can hat, i swear, the wind wasnt that strong.. then purposely when i chose to wear it on the 3rd day to Taipei 101, the wind got so strong until it nearly blew away my can can hat!! i got so frustrated until u dun c it anymore in subsequent photos..

#4
trying to use the mirror in the lift for camwhoring..
din quite succeed becos the door was going to open n i got v flustered..

#5
Rain's sacrifice for the art photo.. trying to make sure Taipei 101 is inside the photo with the 3 of us..
she was lying almost flat on the floor and screaming " 快点!我要烫死了!"

#6
my turn to sacrifice to reciprocate Rain's sacrifice..

#7
i tink mayb she has gotten the kick of lying there to take photo so she volunteered a 2nd time..

#8
when u r overseas, there is an almost 90% chance of doing silly things in strange places
when there are SPONTANEOUS frens wif u that is..
because u noe no one is gg to recognise u anyway
here's our jump shots.. we took at least 10times in front of the building.. the security guard muz hav been gladly amused by us..

#9

#10
after all the woo-has of lying there to take photos wif Taipei 101, we found an easier way out wif the peak seen.. -__-||| so much for our effort..

#11
there was an IT fair event similar to our mega IT fair held in their exhibition hall..
spotted this cute mobile toilet outside the hall..
mobile toilet also can be so cute.. why SG dun hav???

Next Stop: To 乌来 for hot spring..

#12
the scenery at 乌来.. super country side.. i like..

#13

#14
they have this damn nice scenic lake where there r reali ppl inside soaking in the spring..
all natural and FOC.. but we din try...

#15
their roadside stall.. n was e stall we eventually went there for dinner after hot spring..

#16
the three gers right in front trying to source for a likeable hotel for hot spring..

#17
very unique and cute looking dog spotted.. it looks like a lion's mane from the front..

#18
look at the tail..

#19
there we finally found one spring hotel that we all liked.. but majority dun dare to take e public spring
because we have to go ALL NAKED.. no towels allowed for wraparound..
however, the public spring design is much nicer than the photo below..

#20
we chose a private one wif hot and cold spring so that we can do watever we wan..
look at e mini bathing area.. so small how to bathe??
in case u r mistaken, e big area next to e shower is meant for cold spring, not bathing..

#21

#22
after our hot spring and sourcing for dinner
the rain in taiwan was mad crazy... one moment drizzle, next moment stop, the next moment downpour..
so tiresome until i cldnt take a flattering and decent shot of the owner and her fabulous muachee..

the crazy rain got mi drenched for two consecutive nites while shopping in 士林... i dun relish walking in the rain while shopping.. when the need to protect my shopping buys overwhelmed the need to protect myself.. and the especially self-disgusted feeling when i had to climb into a taxi dripping wet.. one of the most unforgettable experience in taiwan..
making mi miss my last nite of glutinuous rice and very nice 鸡扒.. humrph...

#23
her muachee is super QQ can???
now i wished i had another one right there.. all becos of e rain, i cldnt fully enjoy my food..
cldnt comment on the sausage because i dun like taiwanese sausage..

#24
earlier in the photos, i mentioned we had our dinner at one of the restaurants.. this had been our dinner..
we tried the local specialties.. i would say its gd for most of the items we ordered..
especially this 竹筒饭..
taiwan has many dishes in glutinuous rice.. cooking using the bamboo brought out the fragrance of this glutinuous rice.. i have nv enjoyed glutinuous rice so much until i came to taiwan..

#25
this is shi's favourite.. all of us like it too but shi liked it so much tat she rem e name for it.. i forgot already.. LOLLLLL

#26
it doesnt look tat appetitising.. yet for a NOT veggie lover, i like tis veg... pls try when u r visiting taiwan if u hav e chance.. cannot b found anywhere in e city i tink.. so far we onli seen tis in 乌来.. some sort of their local veg...

#27
this is not worth a try.. e meat is tough.. which is surprising when we r expecting some countryside chicken..
mayb the chicken walked too much..

#28
beancurd.. taiwan has many beancurd dishes as well.. n they r seriously not bad too..
can try if u like beancurd dishes..

#29
stirred fried pork with onions?? i cant reali rem...

#30

#31
弹珠汽水!! cant reali find in SG anymore :(

#32
ok, this mayb has to blog.. as the gers r reali excited abt it..

for privacy of others, i have blocked out the telephone no indicated.. tis is v obvious after i mentioned "TELEPHONE NO", isnt it?? apparantly one ger in the group was being picked up by a taiwan guy on e bus.. nth much worth mentioning except that xuan n mi sitting together were caught totally by surprise when e guy threw the paper onto my lap... a "SPECIAL" experience to mark in my taiwan escapade..

#33

after e hot spring trip, we went back to 士林 for another round of shopping... u can see the whole trip was mostly about 士林,西门町,士林,西门町 again and again...
poor xuan, onli managed to catch e sights of Taipei 101 and 乌来, considering this is her first trip..

we missed Mirarma Ferris Wheel, Pu Pu Car Themed restaurant, toilet themed restaurant, hello kitty themed restaurant, 淡水 and many other sights which we have set for..

记得要好好珍惜

i came across this entry in someone's blog.. and tot it mite be gd for sharing...

seems more apt to type in chinese becos the post is in chinese..

this is not juz applicable for a BGR, i tink it is an essential for all r/s in life... where we muz noe how 2 appreciate what our loved ones have done for us instead of only thinking what we have done for them..

Taiwan Escapade Saga 1 & 2

this shall be a photo log of my taiwan trip in day 1 & 2.. did not edit much of my pics becos i wanna show e original effects from my beloved Olympus cam... n also becos im lazy to edit...

day 1, we din take much pics.. onli during our late lunch after a major saga that happened at our hotel...
i decided not to bring the camera to 五分铺 for fear of the heavy load back.. n I WAS RIGHT.. cld barely carry my stuff back without the help from rain, xuan n shi..

day 2: we decided we reali did not take much photos.. hence we have to make up for it.. so i tried to camwhore whenever i can... its reali tiresome bringing along a non-compact camera while shopping..

DAY 1:

#1
we took a cab down.. cab driver was commenting how tourists like to eat at 鼎泰丰 but the locals dun fancy e food there at all.. he claims there r much better food outside than all the touristy place we r visiting..

#2
i tink crystal jade SG does this drunken chicken more justice than 鼎泰丰 did..

#3
this i must say is reali not bad...

#4
fried rice there is way much better than the SG version..
more taste unlike e bland bland taste for SG version..

#5
this is pretty and good too.. though i am not a v big fan of siew mai..

#6
tis is also good.. much much better than 猪排饭 in SG..

DAY 2:

Places of Interests: 西门町 &  士林夜市

#7
this is where we take our train daily...
our hotel is very near to 士林夜市 which explains why we cld go back there for 3days..

#8
not many self camwhore pics.. i did not reach my target of camwhoring myself in my daily outfit n hair.. becos there is no full length mirror in e hotel room T__T

n in taiwan, like very little ppl take camera out n self camwhore.. i felt weird camwhoring there... which explains e lack of many self taken pics..
whenever i took out my camera and wan to camwhore, i felt e whole taiwan eyes r looking at mi... so after a few shots, i hastily put my cam back...

#9
interesting sign in e MRT.. n its exactly what we did not do according to the sign... their MRT is almost similar to ours.. except ours can linger at e gangway (gateway?)... if i am not wrong, e design n works were done by SG..
they called it 捷运 there.. e 2nd day where its our first time wanting to take MRT, we asked for directions n said 地铁.. the locals's immediate reaction was no 地铁 nearby.. we were like 'HUH?? i tot there supposed 2 b MRT near our hotel.." luckily rain corrected to 捷运 den they understood what we had been trying to say.. so REM 捷运 there!!

#10 西门町!

#11
trying the infamous 阿宗面线...
i din quite like this for my 1st visit becos i rem there were a lot of weird weird ingredients inside that i dun eat... surprisingly, i tink they hav "improved" on their recipe.. i dun c so many weird ingredients inside anymore.. juz alot of 面线.. may not be good news for many as it may mean 偷工减料... hahaha but its reali not bad now that i hav tried..

#12
trying to eat up the bowl as well..

#13
eat, eat, eat non-stop in taiwan.. we tried the MUST-EAT 小吃 in taiwan... our FAV 锅贴! that's, erhmmm, i tink our lunch for tat day... just in case u r misled that we r v big eater, 阿宗面线 was onli one small bowl shared by e four of us...
八方云集 has not bad 锅贴.. worth giving it a try if u r visiting taiwan..

#14

#15
before our 锅贴 came, we tried the 酸辣汤 plus e 黑豆浆... again, i tink 酸辣汤 in crystal jade is much better... but their 黑豆浆 is reali gooooooooood!

#16

#17
needless to say, presenting the most awaited 锅贴.. the 原味 is the best...

#18
the nicest chua bing in 西门町.. actually is the onli chua bing we tried in taiwan la.. but den its already v nice.. e ice melts in ur mouth.. v soft, reali like snow (although i haven touch snow before..).. tat's why it has its name 雪冰.. n it was flavoured with milk.. so its v sweet.. if you ordered choc or sth, e ice is choc flavoured..
SG ice loses handsdown to TW ice... if ice kachang is made with such snow ice, i tink it mite hit some bestseller in SG.. quite an idea rite??

#19
yummy yummuy... mango snow ice :D

#20
so nice until we finished every single drop of the ice..
have u ever seen ppl finished the ice in ice kachang?? i tink it wld hav melted away while ppl r dilly dallying whether 2 eat or not.. so eventually we drink e ice instead of eating it..

#21

#22
the expert at work

#23
the extremely long ice cream we found... xuan wanna try this for the longest time.. becos i tink we went past ard 2-3times.. n she had been eyeing it..
we decided if we nv try, we nv will.. try it n can say we experience it in taiwan.. hahaha..

#24
so long until i got a bit sick of eating tat ice cream...

#25
what does it look like im doing??

#26
the amount of toiletries we have bought from one Watsons and one Cosmed... the bulk of it comes from Shi, the WINNER.. hahaha
i lugged back FOUR bottles of hair conditioner becos a fren recommended mi tis and the whole SG is out of stock islandwide.. FOUR bottles equated to approximately 2kg of my luggage weight T__T

i cldnt post e things tat i have bought for the past two days becos they are reali too much.. Rain was pretty sure that we cldnt get much things in 西门町 because the things there r generally more ex.. i beg to differ n proved her wrong wif e amt of things i can buy...
although more expensive, the items r nicer n more fashionable as compared to nite markets..

#27

Next: Food in 士林夜市

#28
i was so excited when i saw this gigantic hotdog stall... i tot i cld finally laid my teeth on nice yummy big big hotdog... felt so cheated when e hotdog is finally fried n realised the top part is juz bread... not hotdog! e hotdog was actually quite small wrapped inside that big big bun.. xuan told mi its corn dog... not gigantic hotdog.. so disappointing..

#29
taiwan has a different phenomenon from sg... no queue doesnt mean e food is no good.. if u r holding the typical sporean mentality n tinking of giving tis stall a miss becos there is no queue to it.. u r gg 2 have a lifetime regret of missing the opportunity to taste fabulous n marvellous 鸡排.. becos once u hav missed it, u definitely will not try it on ur 2nd visit unless like us, we hav gd recommendation from our fab tour guide, Rain..
in taiwan, no queue doesnt mean no gd.. tis is a marvellous tasting 鸡排 i have ever ate.. so much so that we packet another 3 more packets back to hotel to continue our gluttony..
but i did not get 2 eat it one more time on our last nite in TW due to e heavy rain which is another of my regrets for this trip.. all because of the stupid rain - no pun intended :P

#30
we din try.. juz take for fun onli.. according to Rain, its supposed to be not bad too.. selling fishballs in some 台湾卤汁..

#31

#32

And lastly, a pic for guys to rem...
i miss taiwan a dreadful lot.. almost wished i can live there for mayb one mth??? but i tink i mite b peniless if i reali stayed there for one mth...
reali hoping to go back next year... n 2 catch some of e scenery that i hav missed..
the next time, i wan to go 台中,高雄,花莲 n prob 台南...

Jose Eber 25mm Curling Iron

Are you interested??

i am SELLING my 25mm curling iron right now...

it was bought in Jan 2010 and still in very good condition..
i BARELY used it so u can be rest assured that it is still very well maintained in my cupboard... because e frequently used one is over at dear BF's hse..

i can assure that there is no defects for this curler..

many r asking y do i wan 2 sell away my curler?

ans: becos i bought two curlers e last time.. n now i dun use e 2nd curler as often anymore.. so v simple, thats e reason why i am selling it off at such a price..
selling now at SGD90 (NINETY SINGAPORE DOLLARS)... very very cheap! becos outside you have to get it at ard SGD180... if you know how to bargain, prob $120-150...

perfect for girls who have no clue if they wan straight hair or curls..

and those who wish to try out how they look like in curls before taking the plunge..

and even for those who hav curls but loosen over time and u can use this curling iron from time to time to perk ur curls up without needing to spend more $ to touch up on ur curls..

you can even use this to style ur hair for wedding dinners, functions, parties to make urself look more glam.. curls r generally more glam..

it is a 25mm thick curling iron which means you can create big wavy curls or bouncy princess curls very easily..

Tutorial:
It is very easy to make your entire head into curls using this iron..

- First, divide your hair into two portions..
- Then, hold up a portion of your upper layer of hair wif a giant clip.. you can start curling the lower layer section by section and hold for at least 1-2mins for one section.. pls do not grab too thick layer as the heat mite not eat into the hair and make the curls stay..
- After you r done with your lower layer, you can choose to tie the curls up before letting the remaining portion of ur hair..
- repeat same action for the upper layer n u can choose how high u wld like e curls to be..
- aft completion, u will hav a head of nice curls.. apply some styling cream if u wan to make the curls stay longer.. otherwise generally e curls can hold up at least 8 hrs before getting limp..

for illustration, pls see pics below.. they were all done up by this curling iron.

#1: junie's curls done by Jose Eber curling iron.

#2: curls done with Jose Eber curling irons but it was tied up so not very visible..

#3: also done up using Jose Eber curling iron..

pls drop me a comment if you are interested to get this curling iron..

That's all!

THANKS

Taiwan Prologue

a small little prelude on my tots for this tw trip before loading in the pics..

tis trip has been incredulous..

its fun for mi becos i already had the mind set on fanatic shopping...

i told myself if i like tis item, BUY before i regret when i get back to sg.. but funny thing is there's still regrets when i am back in sg...

tis gets even more incredulous when i realized i hit a whopping NT$13k in just one nite (inclusive of PayEasy items) which means to say i spent nearly NT$10k in 五分铺 in just one nite..

do not doubt ur eyes.. what i am saying is true..

u muz b curious to find out e total amt i hav spent in TW this time.. i din, well, expect it.. at least not until when i was there..

e entire shopping cum eating trip amounted to approximately SGD1.8k (just expenses alone.. note: i din not include in my air ticket n accomodation..)

astounded??

i am not...

i believe i can hit more than tat amt if i din exercise a little self control towards e end.. n if not for e luggage weight... fyi, i hav already added in an additional 5kg excess baggage.. luckily it sufficed..

regrets that i did not get more denim shorts (becos their quality is reali not bad n e denim is short n comfy to wear..), more tops, more dresses etc etc..

silly, isnt it?? when i spent so much money, im still regretting i din buy enough.. what is enough??? i tink there's no exact definition to it..

I LOVE TAIWAN! hope i can go back soon...

pics will be up soon... surprisingly we din camwhore a lot this time.. quoting from xuan: i need 100 self camwhore pics a day and 300 pics for e trip itself per day.. but i did not achieve this target... i realize one thing.. its so paiseh to camwhore in tw when their locals dun reali take their cam out 2 camwhore on e streets.. i wonder those self taken pics in those top tw websites, where did e gers take their photos den???
